Coimbatore: The Sports Development Authority of Tamil Nadu, Coimbatore, organised a district-level cycle competition here today, in memory of former Chief Minister Annadurai's birthday at the Race Course, opposite the Cosmopolitan Club.
Coimbatore: The Sports Development Authority of Tamil Nadu, Coimbatore, organised a district-level cycle competition here today, in memory of former Chief Minister Annadurai's birthday at the Race Course, opposite the Cosmopolitan Club.
More than 200 students across Coimbatore district took part in the cycle competition. The students were divided into four categories - under 11, under 13, under 15 and under 17 years, and covered a distance of 2.5 km, 5 km, 7.5 km and 12.5 km, respectively.

In the Boys category, Niranjan Devarajan of Perks Acharya School, S Varun of SRSI School, M Prajit of St.Mary's Convent Matriculation School and N Harish of PSG Polytechnic secured first place in the Under 11,13,15 and 17 sections respectively.
In the Girls category, Jai Jyotsna of Yuvabharathi Public School, Swetha of SRSI School, TR Sujasree of SRSI School and KR Varshini of SRSI School won the first places, in each section, respectively.
Sujith Kumar, IPS, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic wing), flagged off the race and awarded prizes to the winners. A S Pagutharivu Mohan, Managing Director of Arrow Trading, presided over the function in the presence of J Krishnamurthy, Secretary of Coimbatore District Cyclists’ Association.

Cash prizes of Rs.1000/-, Rs.750/- and Rs.500/- along with a medal each were presented to the top three winners respectively.
