Coimbatore : VLB Janakiammal College of Arts and Science (VLBJ CAS) emerged as champions in the Bharathiar University inter-collegiate men's chess tournament, organised by Dr. R V Arts and Science College in Karamadai.
Coimbatore : VLB Janakiammal College of Arts and Science (VLBJ CAS) emerged as champions in the Bharathiar University inter-collegiate men's chess tournament, organised by Dr. R V Arts and Science College in Karamadai.

Leading the table with 20 points ( five wins) in the league matches, VLBJ CAS lifted the trophy in the men's category of the Bharathiar University inter-collegiate chess tournament. Though PSG CAS equalled VLBJ with five wins in league stages, VLBJ's one point lead overall relegated PSG to second place in the tournament.

Sree Saraswathi Thyagaraja College, Pollachi, and Kongunadu Arts and Science College secured the third and fourth place respectively with four wins each.

In the men's singles category, it was a double treat for PSG CAS as Rathish R and Sreeram K Senthil secured the top two places in the tournament. Manoranjith of Kongunadu won the third place with 33 points.
Ramakrishnan, Managing Trustee of R V Arts and Science College, along with Dr. C N Rubha, Principal in charge of R V Arts and Science College, Palaniyappan, International arbiter and C Thirupathi, Physical Director presented the trophies and certificates to the winners.
