Coimbatore: Karpagam Academy of Higher Education felicitated its students who bagged medals in the second World Vocotruyan (Silambam) Championship held at Vietnam between August 22nd and 26th.
Coimbatore: Karpagam Academy of Higher Education felicitated its students who bagged medals in the second World Vocotruyan (Silambam) Championship held at Vietnam between August 22nd and 26th.

Totally, 27 countries participated in the championship. S Surya, S Vignesh and P Vikraman of Karpagam Academy of Higher Education represented India and bagged a total of six medals including two silvers and four bronze.

S Surya ( 3rd-year BA English) won two silver medals and one bronze medal, S Vignesh (3rd year B.Sc Maths) won two bronze medals and P Vikraman (2nd year MBA) won one bronze medal in the world championship.

Talking in the felicitation function, Vice Chancellor of Karpagam Academy of Higher Education S Sudalaimuthu said that they are giving more importance to self-defence in their institutions. “Our staffs are very actively training players to represent the state and nation. We are happy that our students are shining at State, National and International level.” He also credits S Sudhakar Director of Physical education department for his effort to bring up the traditional martial art form.
