Tirupur: Pradosh Ranjan Paul, a 17-year old cricketer from Tirupur has been selected to play in the India U19 squad for the quadrangular series against Nepal and Afghanistan, starting September 12.
Tirupur: Pradosh Ranjan Paul, a 17-year old cricketer from Tirupur has been selected to play in the India U19 squad for the quadrangular series against Nepal and Afghanistan, starting September 12.
Pradosh, a promising left-handed batsman has been consistent in his performance in the last couple of years, in several domestic matches. He hogged the limelight in the South zone tournament by scoring around 750 runs and became the leading scorer in South zone.

N. Velmurugan, Manager, Tirupur District Cricket Association was delighted that Pradosh had been selected for the Indian U19 squad. “He is the first player from our district to represent the country. We are very glad about his selection and this is an inspiration for other young cricketers from Tirupur,” said a beaming Velmurugan. He opined that Tirupur had been doing very well in State-level competitions and the quality of aspiring cricketers in the District is on the rise. “We are extremely happy and wish him the very best for his future, and hope we can produce more quality cricketers from Tirupur,” he added.
“Pradosh was 9 years old when he came to our academy. He is a very hard working and sincere cricketer. In our academy, he used to play around 500 balls everyday. He is the kind of person who always looks to play cricket anywhere. Actually he is a born cricketer. I remember how he drew the cricket ground and field position in his school days. He was very interested in cricket even from his childhood," says V Ramesh, Coach of Pradosh. He added that it was Pradosh's hard work and dedication that has paid off. "He is very consistent in his performance and never compromises on cricket," he further added. He also commended the support and sacrifice made by Pradosh's parents.
Pradosh is delighted that his last six years of hard work has finally paid off. "I was 9 years old when I joined the Tirupur School of Cricket. It is there that my cricketing career took off. I represented district U14 team at the age of 12 and in the same year I got selected for the State team. I scored 3 double centuries in State matches which was a fillip to my career," beams Pradosh Ranjan Paul. He also added that his aim is to win the World Cup for the India U19 team and to be a part of the senior Indian team someday soon.
