Coimbatore: In a bid to create awareness and encourage sports in tribal women, and also to commemorate National Sports Day which is to be celebrated on August 29, Isha Outreach conducted a throw ball tournament for women at Alandurai High School in the city, on August 26.

A total of 20 teams from in and around Thondamuthur participated in the tournament. In the finals between Pasumai (Parameshwaranpalayam) and Devarayapuram, Pasumai won the match against Devarayapuram with the score reading 21:14, 21:17. The third place was bagged by Beenampalayam.

The chief guest N S Durai, Head, Co-operative Society, Nadhegoundenpudhur presented the Championship Shield and cash prizes to the Pasumai team. Yasotha from the Pudhupalayam team and Gayathri belonging to the Pasumai team were awarded as the Players of the Tournament with cash prizes and shields.
