Coimbatore: At the state level Inter school cricket tournament organised by Sri Shakthi Institute of Engineering and Technology from August 6 - 13, AVM Rajeswari Matriculation School were crowned as champions.
Coimbatore: At the state level Inter school cricket tournament organised by Sri Shakthi Institute of Engineering and Technology from August 6 - 13, AVM Rajeswari Matriculation School were crowned as champions.
Around 30 school teams from various parts of the State took part in the tournament. The finals of the tournament was played between AVM and Don Bosco Chennai, yesterday at the grounds of Sri Shakthi Institute of Engineering and Technology.
Batting first, AVM Rajeshwari scored 104/6 in 20 overs. Unable to meet the winning target, Don Bosco were all out for 83 In 18 overs. AVM Rajeshwari from Chennai won the finals by 21 runs and emerged as champions.
In a thrilling match between Sri Jeyandra Saraswathi, Coimbatore and Nellainadar Chennai, the latter won the match by just 1 run. Team Nellainadar batted first and scored 123/6 in 20 overs and defeated Sri Jeyandra Saraswathi who scored 122/10 in 20 overs.
A cash prize of Rs. 1 lakh was given to the winners of the tournament and Rs.50,000 for the runners. Teams in third and fourth place were awarded with Rs. 30,000 and Rs. 20,000 respectively.
