Madurai Panthers claim Maiden TNPL title

Chennai: Arun Karthick's unbeaten 75 helped Madurai to lift their Maiden Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL) title, as they defeated Dindigul Dragons by Seven wickets in the final at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Sunday.

Chennai: Arun Karthick's unbeaten 75 helped Madurai to lift their Maiden Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL) title, as they defeated Dindigul Dragons by Seven wickets in the final at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Sunday. 

Arun Karthick's brilliant knock (75 not out in 50 balls including 4 fours and 4 sixes) under pressure, certainly guided their team to register a seven wickets victory over Dindigul Dragons. 

In the first innings, it was Abhishek Tanvar and Lokesh Raj who sealed a strong batting line-up and pushed Dindigul Dragons to 117.

Though M Silambarasan, left arm spinner from Dindigul Dragons took 3 Wickets in the very first over and gave them respite to his team, Arun Karthick composed game partnership with Sujith Chandran sealed the match. 

The duo's unbeaten 117 runs off 98 balls was the ultimate game changer. 

K B Arun karthick was named as the Man of the match. He is also declared the player of the season with 472 runs including six 50s in this season. 

And, Abhishek Tanwar took 15 wickets in the season, which is highest in TNPL season 3. 

Scores : Dindigul Dragons: 117 in 19.5 overs (N Jagadeesan 51, Abhishek Tanwar four for 30, Lokesh Raj three for 31) 

Madurai Panthers: 119 for 3 in 17.1 overs (KB Arun Karthick 75 not out, Sujith Chandran 38 not out, M Silambarasan 3/23).
