Coimbatore: Yet again, the shooters from Coimbatore rifle club have made the city proud. As, after four long years Coimbatore Rifle Club has won the Namasi and Kannan Trophy.
Coimbatore: Yet again, the shooters from Coimbatore rifle club have made the city proud. As, after four long years Coimbatore Rifle Club has won the Namasi and Kannan Trophy.
The members of Coimbatore Rifle Club bagged gold in Double Trap Namasi and Kannan Trophy in the 44th Tamil Nadu Shotgun Shooting Championship held at pudukkottai recently.
More than 100 shooters across Tamil Nadu participated in the shooting championship. The competition was held under four various categories- trap, double trap, mixed trap and skeet.
In total, shooters from Coimbatore Rifle Club grabbed 52 medals including 18 gold in various categories.
"Participating in the trap events and winning the trophy is a difficult task for shooters from Coimbatore. The reason being, we don't have a shotgun Shooting range, here. Only Chennai and Pudukkottai have shotgun Shooting range in Tamil Nadu", says Aparna Vasanthkumar, Coimbatore Rifle Club Committee member.
The winners are Aparna Vasanthkumar, K.S. Senthil Kumar, N.Bakthavatchalam, N.B. Vikram, B. Ramesh Kumar, Karthickey Madhavan, Yashwanth, Advaith, Analina, N. Nivetha, N. Keerthana, Srinithi Malvika, Suganya and Sowmya.
It is to be noted that this is the first time, both men and women junior shooters participating in the shotgun event.
