Coimbatore: G. Sathiyan (PSPB) won his third inter institutional singles title as he defeated Harmeet Desai 4-3 in AAI All India Inter Institutional Table Tennis championship held at the indoor stadium in Bharathiyar University here on Tuesday.

In the thrilling final against young Desai, it was not easy for Sathiyan. In the first 4 games, it was Sathiyan who lead by 3-1. Desai built his confidence and started his aggressive paddling and equaled the game 3-3. In the decider, Sathiyan beat Desai 11-7 and lifted his third inter institutional singles title.
Similarly, in women singles, Divya Deshpande (PSPB) bagged gold as she defeated Archana Kamath by 4-3 in the finals. Earlier Divya defeated Manika Batra, the Commonwealth women's singles champion in the quarter finals of the tournament. Divya wins her first title in the inter institutional Table Tennis championship.
In men doubles, it was Jeet Chandra and Siddesh Pande (PSPB) beat Abishek Yadav and SFR Snehit (AAI) with ease 3-0 and Archana Kamath and Mouma Das of PSPB defeated Ayhika Mukherjee and Priyadharshini Das of RBI 3-2 in the finals to crown. While in the mixed doubles, seeded player Manav Thakkar teamed up with Archana Kamath won over Sanil Shetty and Reeth Rishya 3-2.
