Coimbatore: The 48th 'All India Inter Institutional Table Tennis Championships 2018' was inaugurated in the city today. The seven-day tournament will be organized by Airport Authority of India (AAI) at the indoor stadium of Bharathiyar University from August 1-7.
Coimbatore: The 48th 'All India Inter Institutional Table Tennis Championships 2018' was inaugurated in the city today. The seven-day tournament will be organized by Airport Authority of India (AAI) at the indoor stadium of Bharathiyar University from August 1-7.
The Championships will host both team and individual Events in which 20 Men's team, 14 Women’s Team, 5 Youth Boys Team and 4 Youth Girls Team will be participating in the tournament.
The Winner and Runner up teams in the Men’s and Women’s events of this Championships will qualify for the Senior National Championships to be held at Cuttack during January 2019. The winner of the Youth Boys and Youth Girls Team will qualify for the Junior and Youth National Championships to be held during this December.
A prize money of over Rs. 5 lakhs will be distributed to the winners of the tournament.
Top players of the country such as G Sathiyan, Achantha Sharath Kamal, Harmeet Desai, Sanil Shetty, Antony Amal Raj will represent the all Men’s category and Manika Batra, Commonwealth Women’s Singles Champion, Ayikha Mukherjee, Mouma Das, Madhurika Patkar, Pooja Saharsrabudhe, Sutirtha Mukherjee will represent the Women’s category.
