Coimbatore: K. Periaiah, IPS, Commissioner of Police, inaugurated the five-day Inter Collegiate Tournament on Sports and games of TNAU today.

In his inaugural address, Th. K. Periaiah emphasized on the development of personality traits like hard work, leadership skills, coordination through sports and games. He insisted upon the students to be knowledgeable on sports also as they help better performance in competitive exams and interviews.

He recalled his association with the TNAU playground in his student days and the medals and prizes which he won during his college days.

Around 1700 students from 28 colleges from various agricultural colleges across the state will participate in the event. The event was presided over by the Registrar of the University Dr. D. Sudhakar.
Earlier, Dr. S. Mahimairaja, Dean (Agriculture), TNAU welcomed the gathering. Dr. G. Raghavan, Director of Physical Education, TNAU, and Coimbatore proposed a vote of thanks.
