Over 2000 young athletes have registered to participate in the first qualifying round of Indian Speed Star – Season 3, a pan- Indian talent scouting programme for Indian athletics, which is to be held on October 23 in the city.
With the avowed aim of creating star athletes for the 2020 Summer Olympics, the Speed star season 3 has begun and over 2000 athletes from Erode, Salem, Tiruppur, Nilgiris, and Coimbatore would take part in the mega event organized in Nehru Indoor stadium in the city.
Track events including 100,200, and 400 meters would be held for selecting the qualifying athletes and the competitions would be held in two age group categories of below 14 and below 17 respectively.
The second round of selection would be held at the state level where the excelling athletes would be selected to participate in national level.
In Speed Star – Season 2 about 1, 13,547 athletes took part and 6 were finally selected at the national level.
