Teams for more than two States would kick it out at the Third edition of the South Indian Level Veterans’ Football Tournament, which is to be held in Madukkarai for three days between 18th and 20th of August.

According to one of the organisers, the tournament is held to encourage people above the age of forty to involve in sports and especially in an active game like football.
“Year by year, we get competition teams from all over South India and this year too we have received registrations from teams from Kerala and Tamil Nadu,” T.Gunasekaran, one of the members of Madukkarai Veterans Football Club that is organising the event said.

He further added that the matches would be held on knockout basis at the ACC Football court and the finals would be held at the same venue on Sunday (20th August).
“Trophies would be given to the winners and runners. We would also be presenting mementos to all the participants,” he informed.
Players who have represented various States and the country would participate in the competition.
The tournament is one of the very few tournaments involving eleven players that is being continually organised by members of the Coimbatore District Veterans’ Football Association. There are upto 15 clubs in the association including the one at Madukkarai, which is to organise the tournie.
