Tirunelveli district boys’ team won the finals scoring 87 points and defeating Tiruvallur team which secured 85 points and lift Tamilnadu State Basketball Championship Under 16 trophy.
In the finals women’s category Chennai zone 1 defeated Chennai zone 2. Chennai Zone 1 won the finals and defeated Chennai Zone 2 team by scoring 64 points. Chennai zone 2 which scored 55 points lost the finals.

A cash prize of Rs.5000 plus a shield was presented to Tirunelveli team which own the finals in the men’s category. Cash prizes of Rs.3000 plus shield and Rs.2000 with a cup were presented to the Tiruvallur & Madurai Dist. teams which had secured the second and third places. Individual prizes were also given.

The five day Tamilnadu State Basketball Championship under 16 for boys and girls organized by the Tamil Nadu Basketball Association and the Coimbatore District Basketball Association began at the PSG College of Technology campus from June 14. The tournament was sponsored by Arise Foundation and CRI Pumps in association with PSG Sports Club. In boy’s category 27 teams from 26 districts and 17 girl’s teams from 18 districts took part in the championship.
