A Level-1 'Summer Chess Camp' was organised by Dr.N.Mahalingam Chess Academy, Kumaragu College of Technology, for a duration of 2 weeks from 8.5.17 to 19.5.17. Around 30 students from in and around Coimbatore took part in this chess camp. This initiative was undertaken by the academy to produce an increased number of national and international chess players from the Kongu region.

The trainer, Mr.Mohammed Yousuff, is an ace in the game of chess and is also a certified trainer with many national chess players to his credit. He also holds the esteemed designation of the Joint Secretary of the CDCA.
The valedictory function was held on 19th May 2017 for the little grandmasters, who successfully completed the training. It was presided over by Shri Shankar Vanavarayar, Joint Correspondent, KCT, and President, Dr.Mahalingam Chess Academy, along with Dr.R.S.Kumar, Principal, KCT. All the participants of the camp were felicitated with certificates and mementoes.
