Coimbatore: The Tamil Nadu Department of Youth Affairs and Sports Development (DYSD) on Wednesday laid the foundation stone for the construction of synthetic track, synthetic runway and special repairs at the Nehru Stadium in Coimbatore.
Tamil Nadu Youth Welfare and Sports Development Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin, who arrived at the Nehru Stadium from a hotel on Avinashi Road for the ceremony, was accorded a warm welcome by dmk workers and the public at Avinashi Road. Moreover, 300 people were given a rousing welcome near the Jenny Club.
Tamil Nadu Minister for Power, Prohibition and Excise Senthil Balaji presided over the function, which was attended by Tamil Nadu Youth Welfare and Sports Development Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin and laid the foundation stone of the synthetic runway at a cost of Rs 6.55 crore and the nehru stadium repair works at a cost of Rs 65.15 lakh.
Athulya Mishra, Additional Chief Secretary to the Government of Youth Welfare and Development, District Collector Sameeran, Mayor Kalpana Anandakumar, Corporation Commissioner Prathap, Deputy Mayor Vetrichelvan, Zonal President. Meena Loku and others were present.
