Coimbatore: The Coimbatore City Round Table 31 and Coimbatore City Ladies Circle 16 organisations commit to continuing funding the teams.

It was with sheer grit and determination that the Tamil Nadu Women's Kabaddi Team brought home the winning trophy. The under-17 and under-19 women’s team participated in the National Kabaddi Tournament that was recently held in Jammu and Kashmir. They were mentored and coached by Satish.

The journey and winning streak of this women's Kabaddi team is nothing short of inspirational. A true story of hard work and persistence that ended in memories which will be etched in their minds and hearts, for a lifetime. Their story of triumph against all odds is sure to motivate women athletes to break the glass ceiling.

Coincidentally, members of the Coimbatore City Round Table 31 along with Coimbatore City Ladies Circle 16 who were looking to support deserving sports persons were introduced to the teams through a known source and have committed to support the teams. “The team of close to 20 women who travelled for a good two-and-a-half days, all the way to J&K, faced and overcame many challenges. Running short of funds, the team lived on bananas and tea to keep them going,” revealed one of the members of the Coimbatore City Round Table 31 to SimpliCity.

It was only after the RT 31 and LC 16 made the donation that they learned about the struggles that the teams went through. This has prompted the organisations to continue supporting the teams with equipment that can help them perform better. “On their own if the teams are able to do well, we are sure that they can touch greater heights, if they are provided with support,” opined one of the members of the Coimbatore City Round Table 31 shared.

The debut instalment of sports equipment has already been handed over to the team of women and the two non-profit organisations are preparing to hand over a bigger consignment of sports equipment and accessories. It has been reported that members of the two groups are chalking out plans to design and create a team jersey for the under-17 and under-19 team of women.

Additionally, the Coimbatore City Round Table 31 along with Coimbatore City Ladies Circle 16 are hopeful that the team of women will also be supported with funds and in kind from other organisations.
