Student Cuba has won gold in the under-21 karate competition and created a record.
Coimbatore: A Government College student from Coimbatore has won gold for karate competition held at the 7th National Level Sports meet in Goa. Coimbatore MP PR Natarajan congratulated the student for her achievement and wished her ahead of the future tournaments.
Cuba is the daughter of Balan - Amutha couple from Vellalore in Coimbatore. She is a final year student of History and Science at the Coimbatore Government Arts College.
Cuba has been learning the game of karate with interest since childhood. She has been continuously competing to win at various district and state-level competitions. At the 7th National Level Games which were held in Goa from 26th to 28th of last month, thousands of players from across the country participated along with her.
Around 152 players from Tamil Nadu participated on behalf of the Tamil Nadu Rural Youth Sports Federation out of which two participants were from Coimbatore Government Arts College.

After achieving the record, Cuba visited the Coimbatore District Committee Office of the Marxist Party on Friday. She was felicitated by Coimbatore MP PR Natarajan. She was then wished for her future endeavours to add pride to the nation by winning medals at the next international tournament in Nepal.
