Taekwondo competition for the Chief Ministers Cup was organised by the Sports Authority of Tamil Nadu at the Jaivabai Girls Higher Secondary School in Rayapuram, Tirupur. About 408 students who were below 21 years old, participated in this tournament. About 16 members represented the Sports Authority of India of Coimbatore at this event.

Participants were divided into the categories based on their weight. Girls were divided into 43, 46, 49, 53, 57, 62, 67, 67 plus categories and the boys were divided in to 50, 54, 58, 63, 58, 73, 77 and 77 plus categories. Coimbatore team won 3 gold and 1 silver medal at this event.
Keerthana who is studying 12th standard in Suburban High School in Coimbatore won a gold medal her category, Priiyanka studying in Coimbatore Institute of Technology (CIT) College in Coimbatore won gold in her respective category and Sangamithra studying 11th standard in Bharathi Matriculation Hr. Sec. School also won gold in her category. The students who won gold medal were given a cash prize of Rs. 1 lakh each.
Avanthika who is studying 10th standard in Sri Sowdeswari Vidyalaya Matriculation Higher Secondary School, Coimbatore won silver medal and a prize money of rupees 75 thousand in her category. Vishuvardhan studying 2nd year ME in Rathinam Engineering College in Coimbatore, Madhankumar studying 3year B.Com CA in VLB Janakiammal College of Arts and Science, Coimbatore and Madhumitha studying 1st year B.Sc. nutrition at P.S.G College of Arts and Science, Coimbatore won bronze medals with a prize money of Rs.50,000. Today the winners of the various medals met Coimbatore collector T.N. Hariharan. The collector appreciated the winners and lauded their efforts.
