Coimbatore: Differently abled Srinivasan from Pollachi has been selected for the Chennai team in the DPL cricket tournament to be held in Dubai.
He has requested the TB government to help. Srinivasan is from Mamarathupatti village near Pollachi. This B.E civil engineering graduate lost parents at an early age. Srinivasan's grandmother Rangammal had raised him. Although his left arm is paralyzed, he has been interested in cricket since school days. He has played in district and state level competitions for the differently abled.
He played as a fast bowler for the Indian B team in 2019.
The DPL is to be held in Dubai next month. Chennai Superstar team from Tamil Nadu has included him in the team to play as a fast bowler, but as he is differently abled, has no job and is struggling without income, he is not in a position to arrange money for travel expenses to Dubai. A heartbroken Srinivasan says he is also unable to afford sports equipment.
He said, "I have been selected for the Tamil Nadu team, I will show my full potential to add pride to Tamil Nadu. Therefore, the government should help me to overcome my poverty."
Srinivasan has submitted a petition to Pollachi Sub-Collector Vaithiyanathan in this regard.
