Coimbatore: Team Coimbatore has triumphed in the Coimbatore Masters Open Table Tennis Championship, a state-level tournament by Masters of Spot held at Castle Town in the city on Sunday.

The one-day veteran's tournament had over 60 participants from Coimbatore, Tirupur, Udumalpet, Madurai, Hosur, Thrissur, Ernakulam, Calicut and Kollam.
The tournament was conducted under league cum knockout basis in which two national medalists -- Natarajan and Govindarajan and four state medalists --Selvam, Sunith Kumar, Ellyas Lehry and Kasi Viswanathan took part.
In the team event, Coimbatore team's Selvam, Kasi Viswanathan and Ellyas Lehry secured the highest point to lift the team event trophy, while team Kerala's Jayakrishnan, Vineet and Vineesh secured the runners position in the tournament.
In singles 60+ years category, Kasi Viswanathan emerged champion, while Alagarsamy from Madurai secured second place. In 50+ years category, Ellyas Lehry and Sunith Kumar of Coimbatore bagged the first two places respectively. And, in 40+ years category, Vineeth and Vineesh from Kerala clinched the top two position.
Ben Mathew IRS, Commissioner of Income Tax, Coimbatore along with Shankar Manivannan, President of Veterans Association of table tennis Coimbatore presented the trophies and prizes to the winners of the tournament.
Others present at the prize distribution were Kaleelur Rehaman, Vice president, Sunith, Secretary Selvam, Joint secretary of Veterans Table Tennis Association of Coimbatore.
