Coimbatore: A mini-marathon 'Run against Child Abuse' to raise awareness on child abuse was organised by CMS Vidya Mandir, today.
Coimbatore: A mini-marathon 'Run against Child Abuse' to raise awareness on child abuse was organised by CMS Vidya Mandir, today.
Keeping in mind, the wide spread incidents of child abuse, the mini marathon was organised to remind the society's responsibility in creating a safe environment and a sound future for the children.
The marathon was held under four categories, 10 km for men, 5 Km for men and women, 5 km for school students and 2 km for children (2-7yrs). Winners of the various events were distributed cash prizes worth Rs.70,000. More than 3450 participants took place in the mini-marathon.
The event commenced at 5.30 AM from the school in Maniyakarampalayam and passed through Nallampalayam, Kannappa Nagar, Sanganoor, Sakthi Road, Surya Hospital, Atthipalyam Pirivu, Chinnavedampatti and concluded at the school.

Assistant Commissioner of Police, (Law & Order), Somasundaram took part as the Chief Guest and flagged off the event. Inspector of Saravanampatti police station, Selvaraj and many others took part in the event.
Participants were provided with t-shirt and free breakfast.
Cash prizes were awarded to the winners of the first five places. Schools and colleges with more than 100 participants were awarded, trophies. All the participants were presented with certificates and medals.
The School's Chairman T. A. Venugopal and Secretary K. M. Murali had made the arrangements for the event.
