15 cricketers from Coimbatore will mark their presence in the upcoming 5th edition of Tamil Nadu Premier League for different teams.
After the successful 4th TNPL season, the players draft for the upcoming season was held at a private hotel in Chennai on Thursday in which 15 players from the city have found their spots in different teams.
Last year's best performers, N Jagadeesan was the hot pick this year too. He was selected by last year champions, Chepauk Super Gillies for Rs 3 lakhs.

Further, Hari Nishanth C, Abinav M, Shajahan M, Mohan Prasath S, Kousik J, Aushik Srinivas were the other top bids.

Sujay S, Suresh Kumar J, Shubham Mehta S, Mithun R, Saravana Kumar P, Mani Bharathy K, Gowtham Thamarai Kannan K and Karuppusamy A were also part of the list.

The number of representation from the city has reduced since players played last season went unsold in this season. And, no new players were selected in the auction since last season which had five debutants from the city.

Home team Lyca Kovai King retained J Suresh Kumar, wicket keeper batsman, while Ruby Trichy Warriors roped in the pacer P Saravana Kumar and Salem Spartans picked Shubham Mehta S for this season.
In a pool of 633 players, 132 players were chosen by eight franchises out of which 67 were from the districts team. Siechem Madurai Panthers picked the highest number of players from the districts 11, followed by Salem and Chepauk, who picked nine players each.
The draft featured 17 rounds but VB Kanchi Veerans did not go beyond 15, while Lyca Kovai Kings and Madurai opted out after 16th round. In effect, the Veerans ended up with 18 players in the squad, Kovai and Madurai had 19 while the rest of the five franchises finished with 20 players each.
The maximum players each franchise can have the squad is 22 while the minimum number is 16.
This season of TNPL will have two new venues at Coimbatore (SNR Institution's turf ground) and in Salem (Salem Cricket Foundation).

And, two new teams will join the bandwagon of teams this year -- Salem Spartans (formerly Tuti Patriots) and iDream Tiruppur Tamizhans (formerly iDream Karaikudi Kaalai).
