Coimbatore: PSG College of Arts and Science emerged as champions at the State level inter-college basketball tournament for PSG Trophy held at the college on Thursday.

PSG College of Arts and Science organised the 46th State-level inter-college basketball tournament for 'PSG Trophy' at the indoor basketball Stadium at PSG CAS campus from February 11 to 13.
Top eight basketball teams from colleges across Tamil Nadu participated in the tournament which was conducted under league cum knockout basis. The participating teams were divided into two groups and top two teams in the group A and B qualified into semi-finals held on Thursday.
PSG CAS, St.Josephs College from Tiruchirappalli, Sathyabama University from Chennai and Bishop Heber College from Trichy were the four teams qualified for the semi-finals.

In the first semi-finals of the tournament, the host PSG CAS defeated Sathyabama University by 85:70 to their spot in the finals. And, in the second semi-finals, St. Joseph college defeated their district mates Bishop Heber by 61:50 to enter the finals.

In the finals, PSG CAS with Joshua and Callistus Gerrard's brilliance in the court defeated Trichy based St. Joseph College by 63-44 to lift the PSG Trophy.
The third and fourth place in the tournament was secured by Sathyabama University and Bishop Heber College respectively.
Dr Ch. VST Sasikumar, Principal of Maruti College of Physical Education along with Dr D Brindha, Principal PSG CAS, Dr T Kannaian, Secretary, PSG CAS, Physical Director, Dr B Navaneethan and Assistant Physical Director Dr R Soundararajan distributed the trophies and certificates to the winners.
