Coimbatore: District level Kabaddi tournament for Chief Minister Trophy was held at the Kabaddi court near Nehru Stadium on Tuesday.
Coimbatore: District level Kabaddi tournament for Chief Minister Trophy was held at the Kabaddi court near Nehru Stadium on Tuesday.
The tournament was conducted for boys below 25 years and 85 kilograms of weight in which 22 teams all around the city participated. The tournament was inaugurated by N Dhandapani, Secretary, Coimbatore District Amateur Kabaddi Association along with R.P. Ravichandran, District Sports Officer.
The one-day tournament was conducted under knockout and league basis in which Elam Singam Kabaddi Club, VLB Janakiammal college, Karpagam University and CMS college competed and entered into the league stage.
In the league stage matches, Elam Singam Kabaddi Club from P.N Pudur won all the matches and emerged champions of the tournament. While, VLB Janakiammal college securing two wins out of three matches ended up as runner and Karpagam University bagged the third place in the tournament.
The best 12 players from this tournament are to represent at the state-level kabaddi tournament for Chief Minister Trophy that is to be held later this year.
The winning team was presented with Rs.12000 and certificates. DSO R.P Ravichandran along with the Coimbatore Amateur Kabaddi Association President, distributed prizes and certificates to the winners of the tournament.
