Coimbatore: A first of its kind in the City, The Indian Public School has organised an inter-school Robotics competition for students at TIPS Main Campus on Saturday in which around 250 students from various schools showcased their robotics skills.
In a bid to provide a platform to the young learners to test their skills, understand the design, get exposure from their counterparts and to develop not just technical skills but also work-life skills at this level, TIPS has organised this one-day robotics competition.
The competition was conducted under three different categories - Beginner level (For grade III and IV) Intermediate level (For grade V, VI and VII) and Advanced level (For grade VIII and XI). The students were provided with a basic kit to run a bot and asked to program and run the bot.
The robots completed tasks such as to travel through different surface within a time constraint without collapsing on its way. In the Intermediate level, students were asked to design, build and program a robot to travel around the wall maze without toppling in the walls. In the advanced category, students designed, built and programmed a line follower that followed a black line in the white background. Points were given to the students according to the performance and winners were selected.

"This is the first-ever autonomous Robotics Competition that focuses on STEM (Science, Engineering, Technology and Math) taking place in Coimbatore. This will be launching pad for students robotics skills since we are organising this event without commercial aspects. We aim at providing a platform for our students to ideate their thinking and create innovations for the next generations. The students here are performing tasks under the Arudino platform and Lego platform. Using these platforms students performed their tasks" said T Anuratha, Director of Operations, TIPS India group.

The Indian Public School, Coimbatore bagged the overall championship of Robotica Champions league 2k20 with 15 medals in the overall championship.
