Col C K Nayudu Trophy: Baroda get 3 points after draw with Tamil Nadu

Coimbatore: Team Baroda has got 3 points as they secured a first-innings lead after they drew with Tamil Nadu in the Col C K Nayudu Trophy for under 23 years boys held at Sri Ramakrishna Institutions turf ground on Saturday.

Baroda who are in good form this season put themselves in the driving seat as they lead Tamil Nadu by 55 runs in the first innings and declared on 287 in the second innings.

The Board of Cricket Control in India's Under 23 years Interstate cricket tournament is being held at various parts of the country. The sixth match for Tamil Nadu Cricket Association is being conducted at Sri Ramakrishna Institutions Turf ground in the city. The four-day match was kicked off on Wednesday.

Batting first, team Baroda batsmen showed their form as Mitesh Patel, N.A Rathva and Dhruv Patel scored half-centuries to post 287 in the first innings. Trilok Nag scalped five wickets for Tamil Nadu.

Starting the first innings, the visitors lost their opener, Gauri Sankar, very early and Lokeshwar joined hands with Vimal Kumar to add 83 runs to repair Tamil Nadu's innings and were all out for 207.

Baroda started their second innings with a 55-run lead, came out with intent and scored 287 in the second innings, setting 343 runs as a target for the home team. Playing its second innings, Tamil Nadu were just able to score 138 for 2 in 40 overs, thus resulting in a draw. Since Baroda took the first-innings lead, Baroda secured 3 points and Tamil Nadu got one point in the match.

Vimal Khumar 35).
