Coimbatore: EGS Pillay Polytechnic College from Nagapattinam has claimed the trophy in badminton tournament held as a part of the ongoing state-level inter Polytechnic college sports meet at PSG Polytechnic College in the city, on Thursday.

PSG Polytechnic college hosted (IPAA) Inter Polytechnic Athletic Association's sports event in the PSG indoor complex on Thursday in which 11 teams (Winners of 11 division) participated in various competitions.
At the Badminton finals held today at PSG Indoor Complex, EGS Pillay Polytechnic College, PSG Polytechnic College, Thiyagaraja Polytechnic College and Valliammai Polytechnic were the top four teams who played in the semi-finals from which EGS Pillay and Valliammai Polytechnic college entered into finals.
In finals, EGS Pillay Polytechnic College from Nagapattinam defeated Valliammai Polytechnic College, Kanchipuram by 2-0 to crown as champions. While the third and fourth place was secured by PSG Polytechnic college and Thiyagaraja Polytechnic college respectively.
Similarly in the Chess tournament held today, Kongu Polytechnic College, Erode with 11 points emerged victorious while the host PSG Polytechnic college securing 10.5 points secured second place in the tournament. The third place in the tournament was bagged by Murugappa Polytechnic College, Chennai with 9 points.
In Carrom, Thanthai Periyar E.V.Ramasamy Government Polytechnic College, Vellore emerged winners of the tournament and CSI Polytechnic College from Salem secured runners position the tournament.
In Table tennis, Kongu Polytechnic College, Erode defeated Sri Ramakrishna Polytechnic College, Coimbatore by 3-0 in the finals to emerge as champions while third place was secured by Thiyagaraha Polytechnic College as it defeated Valliammai Polytechnic College by 3-0 in the losers finals.
Dr.B.Giriraj, Principal PSG Polytechnic College along with Dr.V.Mohan Sivakumar HOD Mechanical Engineering gave away the trophies and medals to the winners. The top two players in the winners and runners team were presented with cycles sponsored by Stryder Cycle division of Tata International.
