Coimbatore: P Nirmal Kumar's all-round performance in the finals helped Sri Jayendra Saraswathi Vidyalaya MHSS to claim trophy in the CDCA's non age group boys inter school cricket tournament for 'Coimbatore United Round Table 186 Trophy' held at PSG medical college grounds on Thursday.
CDCA has been organising district level inter school cricket tournament for non-age group boys from Monday at PSG medical college grounds in which Sri Ramakrishna, Lisieux MHSS, RKS Kalvinilayam HSS and Sri Jayendra Saraswathi Vidhyalaya MHSS qualified to the semi-finals.
In the finals held today, Sri Jayendra Saraswathi Vidyalaya and Sri Ramakrishna MHSS clashed for the trophy, in which batting first, Sri Jayendra Saraswathi Vidyalaya, though lost early wickets, the hero of the finals, Nirmal Kumar played an important role in posting 158 runs on board.
Defending less than a par score, Jayendra Saraswathi Vidyalaya's bowlers were very disciplined with their bowling. And, yet again the hero of the match, Nirmal with his outstanding bowling spell of 6 for 44 helped the champions to restrict the opponents to 152 in 37 overs to emerge champions of CDCA inter-school cricket tournament.
