Coimbatore: Sarvajana Higher Secondary School and RKS Higher Secondary School have qualified into the semi-finals, after they emerged successful in the quarter-finals of District level basketball tournament for 'Orion Trophy' here, on Wednesday.
Coimbatore: Sarvajana Higher Secondary School and RKS Higher Secondary School have qualified into the semi-finals, after they emerged successful in the quarter-finals of District level basketball tournament for 'Orion Trophy' here, on Wednesday.
The tournament was organised by Lions Club of Coimbatore Orion along with Rockers basketball Association. In the quarterfinals of the tournament for mini boys held on Wednesday at CDBA Basketball court near Nehru Stadium, Sarvajana faced Texcity and registered a 45-2 win to get into top four places in the tournament.
While RKS on the other side defeated Mallayan Matriculation Higher Secondary School by 38-21 to enter semi-finals.
Similarly, in mini girls category, Alvernia Matriculation Higher Secondary School defeated Perks Matriculation Higher Secondary School by 68-2 to qualify to the semi-finals.
In women's category, Jayalakshmi Sports Academy sailed over YMCA by 51-24 to book their spot in the semi-finals.
Around 60 teams comprising of school boys, girls and men are taking part in the tournament which is being conducted on knockout and league basis, under different categories, sub junior, junior men and women.
Earlier, the tournament was inaugurated by K Venkateshan, M.J.F Sundar, President of Lions Club of Coimbatore Orion and M.J.F Jayaprakash, President of Vasavi Club.
Scores: Mini Boys: Sarvajana defeated texcity by 45-2 Milolee scored 13 points for Sarvajana.
Team Youngblood sailed over Suguna PIPs by 50-14 (Yosanjay scored 20 points)
RKS Kalvinilayam Higher Secondary School defeated Malayan by 38-24 (Vikas -10 points).
Mini Girls: Alvernia Matriculation Higher Secondary School defeated Perks Matriculation Higher Secondary School by 68-2 (Sanmath -16 Points).
Women's Category: Jayalakshmi Sports Academy beat YMCA by 51-24 (Asvitha-10 points).
