Cooch Behar Trophy: Vidyuth's six wickets help Tamil Nadu claim an easy win

Coimbatore: Vidyuth's six wickets helped Tamil Nadu to clinch an easy 8 wickets win over Jammu and Kashmir in the B.C.C.I, Under 19 Cooch Behar trophy held here at Sri Ramakrishna College of Arts and Sciences on Monday.

Coimbatore: Vidyuth's six wickets helped Tamil Nadu to clinch an easy 8 wickets win over Jammu and Kashmir in the B.C.C.I, Under 19 Cooch Behar trophy held here at Sri Ramakrishna College of Arts and Sciences on Monday. 

Tamil Nadu played its last league match of the Cooch Behar Trophy against Jammu and Kashmir at Sri Ramakrishna Institutions Ground, today. The four-day match kicked off on Saturday in which the visitor J&K won the toss and elected to bat first.

Batting first, Jammu and Kashmir batsmen did not resist the pressure from Tamil Nadu bowlers and lost their opener at 5th over. Joy Gupta started the proceedings for the home team and ran through Jammu and Kashmir's innings. Joy Gupta's District mate and Tamil Nadu's Skipper, Pradosh scalped two wickets to bundle out the opponents for 57 runs.

Following a terrific bowling performance, Tamil Nadu batsmen Vikram Satheesh and Sri Abhishek opened the innings. Though TN lost their opener early, Skipper Pradosh Ranjan Paul joined hands with Vikram Satheesh to steady the innings. With Pradosh's quality batting performance of 140 runs, TN stayed strong at the end of day one.

Further on day two, Tamil Nadu was all out for 249 and J&K played their second innings and scored 268 runs, setting 77 runs as target for the home team. In reply, TN chased down the target in 18 overs for the loss of two wickets to register a comfortable 8 wickets win in the final league match of Cooch Behar trophy.

Tamil Nadu has played 7 matches in the league comprising of 4 wins and 3 losses.




Scores: Jammu and Kashmir 57 in 29.1 Overs & 268 in 75.1 Overs (Dikshant Kundal 38, Kanhaiya Wadhawan 54, Govind Sharma 30, Yawer Hassan 57, P.Vidyuth 6/74) lost to Tamilnadu 249 in 59.4 Overs (Vikram Satheesh 31, Pradosh Ranjan Paul 140, Boopathi Vaishna Kumar 35, Basit Bashir 4/87, Sampark Gupta 4/32) & 77/2 in 18.4 Overs.
