TNAU bags overall Championship at State level Intercollegiate tournament

Coimbatore: Tamil Nadu Agricultural University State Level Intercollegiate Tournament and Sports Meet - 2019 -20 was conducted at TNAU University Stadium from 20th to 24th December, 2019. Totally 14 Constituent colleges and 28 affiliated colleges from all over Tamil Nadu took part in the mega event. About 2500 participants participated in various games and sports events for the past five days.



Coimbatore: Over 2500 participants from 14 constituent colleges and 28 affiliated colleges from all over Tamil Nadu took part in the State Level Intercollegiate Tournament and Sports Meet 2019 -20 held at TNAU here.

The five-day tournament was flagged off on December 20 and concluded on December 24. Earlier, the tournament was flagged off by A.V. Venkatachalam IFS, Chairman, Pollution control board, Chennai.



TNAU Main campus won Volley ball, Basket ball, Cricket, and Hockey and came runner up in Ball badminton and Football. Agricultural College and Research Institute, Madurai won in badminton, Agricultural College and Research Institute, Killikulam won in Football, Horticultural College and Research Institute, Periyakulam won Kabaddi, Agricultural Engineering College and Research Institute, Kumulur won Table tennis, Vanavarayar Institute of Agricultural college, Pollachi won chess and Forest College and Research Institute, Mettupalayam won Ball Badminton in Men’s category.

TNAU main campus clinched first place in Basketball, Volleyball and chess. Forestry College and Research Institute, Mettupalayam won Ball Badminton and Kho-Kho, Krishna Institute of Agricultural and Technology, Usilampatti won Badminton and Agricultural College and Research Institute, Madurai won Table tennis in women category.

TNAU Main Campus won Overall Championship for Games (Men) with 50 points and Overall Championship for Games (Women) with 30 points. Agricultural College and Research Institute, Madurai won Overall Championship for Athletics (Men) with 38 points and Horticulture College and Research Institute, Periyakulam won Overall Championship for Athletics (Women) with 31 points.

R. Subramani of Agricultural College and Research Institute, Madurai and Ms. K. Malini of RVS Agricultural College, Thanjavur won Individual championship for Men and Women respectively in Athletics. Tamil Nadu Agricultural University Main Campus, Coimbatore bagged the overall Championship in Game and Athletics with 102 points.

The Grand opening Ceremony was held on 20th December, 2019 at TNAU University Stadium, Coimbatore. A. V. Venkatachalam IFS, Chairman, Pollution control board, Chennai was the Chief Guest. Subramaniam, General Manager, IDBI Bank, Coimbatore distributed Certificates and Medals for the Winners and Runners of the Games Events on 23rd December, 2019.



The Valedictory function was held on 24th December, 2019 and Dr. N. Kumar, Vice – Chancellor, TNAU chaired the function. Vanjulavalli Karthick, IFS, Deputy Conservative of Forest, Karikal was the Chief Guest and disturbed Prizes and Trophies Dr.M. Kalayanasundaram, Dean (Agriculture) welcomed the gathering, Dr. T. Raguchander, Dean Centre for Students Welfare proposed tournament report and Dr. G. Raghavan, Director Physical Education made arrangements for the tournament and proposed vote of thanks.
