Hero I League: Chennai City FC vs Neroca FC ends in a draw

Coimbatore: Defending Champions Chennai City FC played out Neroca FC 2-2 to draw the Hero I League match held at Jawaharlal Nerhu Stadium here in the city on Saturday.

Coimbatore: Defending Champions Chennai City FC played out Neroca FC 2-2 to draw the Hero I League match held at Jawaharlal Nerhu Stadium here in the city on Saturday. 

It was a slow start for the defending Champions, Chennai City FC as they took 25 minutes to score their first goal. It was from Midfielder Katsumi Yusa who earned a penalty and capitalised it very well to convert it and open the account for the defending champions.

Just a couple of minutes from the first goal, brilliant teamwork from CCFC earned them a second goal to extend their lead to 2-0. The excellent long run from Midfielder Jockson Dhas found Mashoor Shereef who guided the ball into the nets.

A couple of tries from the visitors went in vain and CCFC too missed some easy chances and a brilliant save from Santana, Goal Keeper saved CCFC from conceding a goal but it could not last for long, as Lhungdin of Neroca FC scored for the visitors at the extra time in the first half. At the end of the first half, Chennai City FC leads 2-1.

In the 64th minute of the game, Boubacar Siaka earned a penalty and converted into a goal to equalise the score 2-2. The home team missed a couple of chances including an open post chance. 

Another chance created and missed, this time it was Katsumi Yusa at 84 minutes who missed the post. At the end of 90+4 minutes Chennai City FC drew with Neroca FC 2-2.



Khaiminthang Lhungdim was selected as Hero of the match.
