Coimbatore: MSP Solai Nadar Memorial Higher Secondary School from Dindigul emerged champions at 45th State level inter school basketball tournament for 'PSG Trophy' at PSG Sarvajana HSS on Sunday.
Coimbatore: MSP Solai Nadar Memorial Higher Secondary School from Dindigul emerged champions at 45th State level inter school basketball tournament for 'PSG Trophy' at PSG Sarvajana HSS on Sunday.
The four-day tournament organised by PSG Sarvajana Higher Secondary School commenced on December 5 and concluded on December 8. Around 26 teams from Coimbatore, Tirupur, Erode, Thoothukudi, Dindigul, Salem and Tiruvarur took part in the tournament held under knockout cum league basis.
Earlier, P Narayanasamy, Secretary of PSG Sarva Jana Higher Secondary School.inaugurated the tournament.
Of the 26 teams played on knockout basis, MSP Solai Nadar, PSG Sarvajana, Shri K Krishnaswamy Naidu Memorial Higher Secondary School and American College from Madurai qualified into league stage matches.
In league stage matches, MSP Solai Nadar stayed undefeated and won all the three matches to lift PSG Trophy. Sibi Rajan of MSP Solai Nadar Memorial Higher Secondary School was selected as best player of the tournament.
Following, MSP Solai Nadar, American College, Madurai with two wins secured the runner up position. The third and fourth place in the tournament was secured by PSG Sarvajana HSS and K K Naidu Memorial HSS respectively.
Dr. R Rudra Moorthy, Director of PSG CARE distributed the trophies and cash awards to the winners of the tournament. Food and accommodation were provided to the players and coaches of the teams.
P Jayachandran, Physical Director of PSG Sarvajana HSS made the necessary arrangements for the tournament.
