32nd National Junior Athletic Meet-Day-3: Haryana stood first and Tamilnadu retains third position.


The Day-3 of the 32nd National Junior Athletic Meet witnessed some record-breaking performances by the athletes who have come from various parts of the nation. The five-day national tournament was flagged off at Nehru Stadium grounds on 10th November. At the end of the day, out of the 24 participating teams, Haryana team stood first with an overall 224 points followed by Kerala and Tamil Nadu in the second and third places with 219 and 188 points respectively.

Here are the details of the records set by athletes on the day three of this national sports meet: 




Under 12: Hammer throw: Poonam Jaggi from Haryana, Set a new record of 54.66 mts in hammer throw and broke the previous record of 54.39, which was set in 2012.  




Under 14: Short Put: Dhanveer from Pune, set a new record of 17.88 mts, the previous record was 17.71 in 2010.

Under 16: Javelin throw: Rohit Yadav, UP, set a new record of  72.05 mts, previous record was 68.46 set in 2012.

Under 18: Short put: Dipendar Dai from Haryana, set a new record 20.63 mts, previous record 20.21 mts in 2014.

Under 14: High jump: Khyathi Math from UP, 1.62 mtrs, previous record was 1.61 mtrs set in 2014.

As the tournament is drawing to a close, it is expected that all teams would put their fullest skills with zest to lift the overall championship trophy that would be presented at the valedictory function tomorrow evening.
