Coimbatore: G. Nivedhitha, Class IX students of Corporation S.R.P Ammaniammal Girls Higher Secondary School yet again has brought laurels to the city by bagging gold medal at the 17th National Inter District Juniors Athletic Championship organised by Athletic Federation of India at Tirupati on Monday.

Nivedhitha, Class IX students of Corporation S.R.P Ammaniammal Girls Higher Secondary School yet again has brought laurels to the city by bagging gold medal at the 17th National Inter District Juniors Athletic Championship organised by Athletic Federation of India at Tirupati on Monday.

This is the second gold medal at the national level competition for her in November. Earlier this month, Nivedhitha bagged gold at the 35th national Junior Athletic Championship at Guntur. Now, she has clinched gold at MILO 17th National Inter District Juniors Athletic Championship with 4.98 mts in the Girls U-14 finals.
City's passionate athlete Nivedhitha took part in the Long Jump event under 14 for girls category in which over 150 participants from various part of our country took part.
Beginning of her Journey
The 12-year-old started her training at Kovai Athletic Club under the guidance of Srinivasan and Vishnu and from thereon she progressed every day. In 2017, she bagged silver at zonal level competitions.
Though Nivedhitha could not make an impact in her first state-level meet, her hard work and dedication to the sport helped her finish at the top in the long jump and second in triathlon at Tamil Nadu state Junior Athletic championships 2019.
In the same year, she took part in south zone junior athletic championship and secured silver in triathlon and then at the National Junior Athletic championship which was conducted at Guntur from Nov 2. And, now she has secured her second gold in a row to make the city proud.
Krishna Moorthy, Physical director of SRP Ammanaiammal Girls Higher Secondary School and her coaches Srinivasan, Vishnu and fitness coach Beethovan (Bodyzeal Fitness) have expressed their joy over their student's astounding victory.
