Coimbatore: As part of their CSR activity, Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Limited, Mumbai has donated 14 Motivation sports wheelchairs to the Wheelchair Basketball Federation of India. The Indian Men's wheelchair basketball team will be playing at Asia Oceania Zone Championship starting on 27th November at Thailand.
The Indian Men's Wheelchair Basketball is currently having their practice session at Ramakrishna Mission Vivekananda Educational and Research Institute from November 15-26. The camp is supported by Ramakrishna Mission Institute, Dow Chemicals through NGO, ABBF.

Though the players have outstanding skills, lack of funds and sponsorship has been a hurdle for these differently abled players to showcase their skills. Notably, wheelchairs are very crucial for these players to develop their skills. And, every player cannot afford to buy a wheelchair which costs around RS.35000 to 45000.

Mazagon Dock sponsored 14 motivation Wheelchair to support the team and also provided jerseys, track suits, kit bags, shoes, water bottles etc for the Asia Oceania Zone championship.

Sports goods were formally presented to the players by Commodore TV Thomas, Director (Corporate Planning & Personnel) of Mazagon Dock on Monday and registration fee for the team to represent Asia Oceanic Zine Championship was sponsored by SAI/Hatton Automotive Systems.

The championship will witness stiff competition as India has to face strong and experienced teams from Malaysia, Philippines and Iraq in the first round. Other participating countries are Australia, China, Iran, Japan, Korea, Thailand, Afghanistan, Chinese Taipei, Indonesia and Saudi Arabia.
