The 32nd National Junior Athletic Meet which is was flagged off yesterday at the Nehru Stadium grounds has been identifying new sports from all over the Nation. Yesterday at the Under 16 category players from North India set new records in various competitions like running, discus throw and short put. It was a disappointing day for the TN players and the viewers as they could not set winning points.
Today to the contrary, it was raining gold at the Nehru stadium grounds as three girls from TN has secured three gold medals for the first time ever and created history. It was a proud moment as the girls exhibited true sportsmanship and their talents stood way apart from the rest of the participants.
Winners as on 11th November 2016:
Kolusiya, a student of St.Theresa's Higher Secondary School, from Vadakankulam from Tirunelveli won gold in triathlon event She grabbed the gold in 100m running, long jump and short put. She is the first girl from Tamil Nadu to win gold at a national level event in the triathlon.
Hemamalini, a student of standard twelve of Government high school, Vellore secured gold in Javelin throw.
Nisha Banu a Government school student has grabbed gold in long-jump.
All the three girls are students of government and government-aided schools with extraordinary talents great zest. Applauds from all over the state has been pouring to the young stars. We wish them the all the very best for all their future endeavours.
