Cooch Behar Trophy: Vidyuth emerges 'hero' in TN's outright win over Odisha

Coimbatore: Left Arm Spinner Vidyuth V Vijaykumar's match haul of 10 wickets (4 wickets in first innings and 6 wickets in second innings) led Tamil Nadu to thrash Odisha in the third day of the Cooch Behar U19 tournament held at Sri Ramakrishna College of Arts and Science here in the city.


Coimbatore: Left Arm Spinner Vidyuth V Vijaykumar's match haul of 10 wickets (4 wickets in first innings and 6 wickets in second innings) led Tamil Nadu to thrash Odisha in the third day of the Cooch Behar U19 tournament held at Sri Ramakrishna College of Arts and Science here in the city.

After taking a lead of 23 runs in the first innings, TN bowlers ran through Odisha in the second innings as debutant Vidyuth scalped six wickets in the second innings which drove the team to bundle out the visitors for 95 runs in the second innings.

Tamil Nadu required just 73 runs to win the game with more than a day spare which was not a tough task for the team. They confortably chased down the target without losing a wicket.

In the batting lineup of Tamil Nadu, Skipper Pradosh Ranjan Paul scored 118 and Boopathi Vaishna Kumar scored 69 to help the team take lead in the first innings. In the second innings, the openers R. Vimal Kumar and B.Sai Sudharsan Scored 31 and 37 respectively to chase down the easy target. 

With this outright win, Tamil Nadu scored full seven points in their first-round match on the penultimate day of the match.
