Coimbatore: For the first time in history, Coimbatore District Cricket Association (CDCA) is hosting a National level Under 19 cricket match 'Cooch Behar Trophy' here at the recently inaugurated cricket ground at Sri Ramakrishna College of Arts and Science here on Friday.
Coimbatore: For the first time in history, Coimbatore District Cricket Association (CDCA) is hosting a National level Under 19 cricket match 'Cooch Behar Trophy' here at the recently inaugurated cricket ground at Sri Ramakrishna College of Arts and Science here on Friday.
Since inauguration, the CDCA has hosted few inter-district matches and combined district matches. However, by hosting the Cooch Behar trophy, CDCA has created a new milestone in the history of Coimbatore Cricket.
Cooch Behar trophy is a first-class tournament for under 19 years boys conducted by Board of Cricket Council in India. Previously, Tamil Nadu was playing its home matches at M.A. Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. This is the first time, the tournament has been hosted in Coimbatore.
Today in the opening day of the match, Tamil Nadu won the toss and elected to field first against Odisha Cricket Academy. Batting first, Odisha though lost few early wickets, Anil Ajaya Parida's responsible batting for his team helped them score 222 runs for a loss of 4 wickets at the end of day one.
It is to be mentioned that, City Cricketer, P. Nirmal Kumar who is playing for Tamil Nadu Cricket Association team had bowled 16 overs for 31 runs including 4 maiden overs in the day one.
