Coimbatore: Over 800 students enthusiastically participated in the District level Athletic Meet 'Samagra Shiksha' organised by Department of School Education and Coimbatore Educational District held at Nehru Stadium here on Wednesday.
Coimbatore: Over 800 students enthusiastically participated in the District level Athletic Meet 'Samagra Shiksha' organised by Department of School Education and Coimbatore Educational District held at Nehru Stadium here on Wednesday.
For the first time in the State, Department of School Education is organising an athletic meet only for Government school students. Various track and field events like shotput, long jump, high jump, 100mts, 200mts, 400mts, hurdle, triple jump and javelin were held for various age categories.
More than 800 students from 192 government schools from Coimbatore are taking part in the event which is being conducted for boys and girls under age categories of 17 and 19 years.
Earlier, the event was inaugurated by P Ayyannan, Chief Education Officer, Coimbatore.
In boys Category, K Ganesh Prabhu, K Vivin, M Harikrishna, A Kousal Kumar, S Adhithyan, P Sabari, R Dhanush, S Manoj Kumar, S Sanjay Kumar emerged successful. While in girls section, I.Safrin, J Kaviyarasi, P Sri Lakshmi, V Mohana Priya emerged victorious.
The winners of various events will take part in the state level meet organised by Department of School Education.
