Tamil Nadu team yet to prove its mantle at the 32nd National Junior Championship

At the 32nd National Junior Championship the contingent of athletes from our region and from Tamil Nadu are yet to prove their mantle. This sports championship that includes various track and field events was declared open yesterday, November 10 and it is expected to conclude on November 14. About 2,600 athletes from across our country are participating in the various track and field events that are being organized as a part of the championship. Athletes will compete with each other in four categories namely under-14, under-16, under-18 and under-20. Mohammed Nizamuddin is the coach in-charge of the Tamil Nadu contingent of athletes.

The junior athletes continue to set new records in the various events. Tejas Shankar from Delhi broke a record in the under-16 category in short put. It has been reported that the previous record stood at 2.17 and the new record has been created for 2.20. Palvath created a new record of 12.79-meters in the under-16 category of discus throw. Also in this under-16 category, a new record was created by Sunil Halwal from Haryana. The old record stood at 53.02-meters and the new record has been created for 53.96-meters. In the runners, under-16 category, girls, Sudha Paul a record for 53.96- has been created.

With this championship all set to conclude on November 14, we will have to wait and watch how the junior athletes from our city and from Tamil Nadu perform.
