Coimbatore: Over 200 students, winners of 8 zones in Coimbatore and 3 zones in Pollachi took part in the Revenue district level carrom competition by Department of School education held on Saturday, here.
The event was hosted by CSI boys Higher Secondary School in the city and was held at Presentation Convent Higher Secondary School For Girls.
Various age categories- Under 14,17 and 19 for both boys and girls were held, in which in under 14 boys, Singles, D. Hariharan (Holy Family convent), P Karuppasamy (Corporation School, Peelamedu) secured first two places respectively. And, S Akshay Kumar (Vivekananda kalvinilayam matriculation school) and S Ajay Kumar (Corporation School, Peelamedu) were victorious in under 17 years category and in under 19 years category.
Meanwhile, S.R Lokeshwaran (Vasavi Vidhyalaya MHSS) and B Sai Hariharasudhan (CSI boys HSS) emerged as the top finishers.
In girls under 14 years category, C.M. Subarana (PSGR Krishnammal HSS), G. Lakshya (Corp Girls HSS Ramakrishnapuram) were the top two finishers. In under 17 years category, S. Nithya Sree (Govt HSS Sundakamuthur) and G Pavithra ( Govt HSS Ganapathy) secured first two places respectively.
While M Pavithra Bharathi (Corp Girls HSS) and R Arthi (PSGR Krishnammal HSS) were victorious in the under 19 years category.
Similarly in doubles category, R. Srithar and A. Sabarinathan of Corp HSS, Siddhapudur in Under 14 years category, P.P Monish and M Bhavanesh of Vasavi Vidhyalaya MHSS in under 17 and R Sri Ram and K Suresh Kumar of Govt HSS Arasur in under 19 years category emerged successful in boys category.
In girls doubles, C.M. Subarna and C.M Sunethra of PSGR Krishnammal in under 14 years, B Poorna and B Vishnaya of PSGR Krishnammal in under 17 years and M Pavithra Bharathi and R Kalaivani of Corp Girls HSS emerged successful in theri respective categories.
The winners and runners of the tournament will take part in the State level competition by School education department that is to be conducted later this year.
