Coimbatore: Coimbatore's young budding athlete, C Vishrutha made the city proud by winning a gold medal in the 400 m hurdles at the 35th Junior National Athletic Championship held at Guntur, Andhra Pradesh, on Wednesday.
C Vishrutha who has been training under Vairavanathan of Genesis Sports Club, here in the city participated in the 400 m hurdles and crossed the finish line in 01:04:40 to win the gold in the Under 18 years category.
This is the second medal for the city at the event after Niveathitha won the gold for Long Jump, on the third day of the event. Today, being the last day of the event, Vishrutha who has been known for winning medals consistently did not disappoint once again and emerged victorious with another gold medal to her name.

Vairavanathan, coach of Vishrutha said, "She is consistently winning medals in the state and national level meets and showing her determination to achieve. It was her hard work and determination that helped her win this medal. I hope Vishrutha will be one of the strong competitors in the Asian Youth Athletic Championship.

"I am extremely happy with this performance and my dream is to win a medal for my country," exulted Vishrutha. "This medal encourages me to work hard and a gold medal at the Asian Youth Athletic Championship is my next goal," she added.
Genesis Sports Foundation's President, K Mohanraj, Coach Vairavanathan, trainers and club members congratulated Vishrutha on her achievement.
