Coimbatore: Youth from the Wolfpack Soccer Academy, here in Saibaba Colony emerged winners in the All India 8 a-side Football tournament for under 17 years category, held at Goa, on October 29.
About 16 teams took part in the knockout tournament conducted by the Bangalore Soccer Academy headed by Sethuraman, former Indian football player. The tournament was conducted under two categories - Under 13 and Under 17 years of age.
City lads Jeff, Sabeel, Roshan, Gokul, Mishal, Aryaman, Monish, Poornesh and Prithvi participated in the tournament in the Under 17 years category in which they defeated Athlon Sports FC Mumbai by 7-1 in the semi-finals to enter the finals.
In the finals of the tournament, Wolfpack Soccer Academy played against Ranipet Football Club and won by 5-3 to emerge champions of the tournament.
