Coimbatore: Nirmala College for women triumphed in Bharathiar University's Inter college Boxing Championship for Women held at Kongu College of Arts and Science, Erode on Friday.
Coimbatore: Nirmala College for women triumphed in Bharathiar University's Inter college Boxing Championship for Women held at Kongu College of Arts and Science, Erode on Friday.
Around 50 participants from various colleges participated in the torunament conducted under 10 different weight categories from 48 years to 81+ kilograms, in which Nirmala College for Women secured 3 Golds, 2 silvers and 4 bronze medals to score 43 overall points and emerged champions of the tournament in girls section.
Following Nirmala College, the host Kongu college of Arts and sciences with 42 points emerged runners of the tournament.
Deepthika, Dhanalakshmi, Kavya, Kalaimani, Ramalakshmi, Srinithi, Kiruba Mathi, Mangayarkarasi and Gokili were the medalists from Nirmala College for women.
Dr. Sister Helen, Principal of Nirmala College for women, Ruby Alangara Mary, Secretary, Sreemathi, Physical director and Prabhu, Coach congratulated the winners.

Similary in boys section, PSG college of Arts and science scored a mammoth 47 points in overall Championship to emerge winners of the tournament. Following PSG CAS, Rathinam college of Arts and science with 17 points secured second place in the tournament. Kongu college of Arts and science and Kongunadu college of Arts and science secured third and fourth place respectively.
