City lads help Team Tamil Nadu pile up medals at National Roller Skate Basketball championship

Coimbatore: Making the city proud are students from Coimbatore who have bagged medals at the third National Roller Skate Basketball championship held at Sonipat in Hariyana, recently.

Coimbatore: Making the city proud are students from Coimbatore who have bagged medals at the third National Roller Skate Basketball championship held at Sonipat in Hariyana, recently.

As many as 26 students from the city represented Tamil Nadu in various categories of the tournament in which players from various parts of the State were selected to represent team Tamil Nadu. The tournament was conducted under various age categories - Under 11,14,17 and Above 17 for boys and Under 14 and Above 14 for girls.



In the Under 11 Boys category, the Tamil Nadu team bagged the gold medal. City lads Sanjay, Althomas, Rahul, Kavin Kumar, Shobanesh and Nandhagopal were part of team that helped Tamil Nadu emerge champions.

Similarly, in the Senior boys category, Navaneethan, Jeshwanth, Praveen Kumar, Vasantha Kumar, Saran, Tharani Prakash, Deepak Sabarish and Srihari were part of the Tamil Nadu team which bagged the silver medal.

In the Girls category, Priyadharshini, Keerthimalini, Haritha, Santhiya Sri, Bhavana, Dharshini, Manju Priya, Sitheshwari, Deeksha and Durga Sree represented Tamil Nadu in the Senior Girls category and secured the bronze medal.

The Tamil Nadu tram secured the silver in the overall championship in which players from Puducherry, Maharashtra, Punjab, Karnataka, Delhi, Hariyana, Uttarakhand, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan vied for the trophy. Team Tamil Nadu was presented with 2 lakhs and Rs .33,000 cash prize for securing second place.
