Kumaraguru College of Technology (KCT) today hosted 'Quad Bike Design Challenge -QBDC' from October 22 to 24 at the KCT Dirt Tracks.
This event was organized by the Fraternity of Mechanical and Automotive Engineers (FMAE) Hyderabad. The three-day technical event was to nurture technical and managerial growth in the students by providing them the biggest inter-disciplinary competitive platform. This contest was judged by experts from the industry and academia.

The dedicated dirt track of the department of Automobile engineering that is located inside the KCT campus hosted this event. This race track is set on piece of land measuring seven-acres and stretches up to 1.6-kms. This track has challenging hurdles, jumps, wood logs, climbs, mud pits and quick turns to test the structural rigidity and endurance performance of the quad bikes as well as the skills of the riders.

Static events like technical scrutiny of the Quad, design, evaluation, CAE report evaluation and business marketing plan were followed by the dynamic activities like brake test, manoeuvrability, suspension, traction, hill climb tests and endurance race. The winners in various categories will be awarded winning trophies and cash prizes. A total of Rs. 1.5-lakhs will be given as cash prize.

Speaking to SimpliCity a team of participants from Bangladesh who participated in this contest shared that the team of students have come out with their own creation. The students share that this is the first time they are participating in such a contest. They also share that they have overcome many challenges in this contest and are positive of a win.

Akhil from Guru Nanak College from Hyderabad says “We are a 30-member team and we have taken the help of two mechanics to create our bike. It is the first time that we are participating in such an event. We got to know about this event from Facebook. We are hoping to finish at 2nd or 3rd place.” Akhil says.

As of this writing, the judges were taking a closer look at the entries. The results will be made official soon. Updates of the winners will follow.
