Coimbatore: PSG College of Arts and Science retained the Bharathiar University inter zone football title for the third time in a row, even as they emerged winners at the PSG CAS grounds, on Tuesday.
Coimbatore: PSG College of Arts and Science retained the Bharathiar University inter zone football title for the third time in a row, even as they emerged winners at the PSG CAS grounds, on Tuesday.
Winners and runners of four zones participated in the tournament and the first round of the tournament was conducted under a knockout basis with the top four teams qualifying to play the league matches.
PSG CAS, Rathinam CAS, VLB Janakiammal CAS and Bishop Appasamy CAS were the top four teams to play the league matches. Standing undefeated in all three league matches, PSG CAS emerged champions of the tournament. They defeated Rathinam College of Arts and Science by 2-1, Bishop Appasamy by 1-0 and VLB Janakiammal by 2-1, to be crowned as champions for the third time in a row.
Following PSG CAS, Rathinam College of Arts and Science with two wins in the league matches, emerged runners-up of the tournament while the third place was secured by VLB Janakiammal CAS.
Dr. T Kannaian, Secretary of PSG CAS along with Dr. B Navaneethan, Director of Physical Education, PSG CAS distributed the trophies to the winners of the tournament. Others present at the prize distribution were Dr. R Soundararajan, Assistant Physical Director and S Guru, Football Coach of PSG CAS.
