Coimbatore: Coimbatore Institute of Technology (CIT) emerged champions at the Anna University Zone 9 Kho kho tournament as they defeated Sri Sakthi Institute of Engineering and Technology in a close contest at PSG I Tech, on Sunday.
Coimbatore: Coimbatore Institute of Technology (CIT) emerged champions at the Anna University Zone 9 Kho kho tournament as they defeated Sri Sakthi Institute of Engineering and Technology in a close contest at PSG I Tech, on Sunday.
PSG Institute of Technology and Applied Research (iTech) hosted the Anna University Sports Board's Zone 9 Kho kho tournament in their college premises. As many as eight colleges teams competed in the tournament which was conducted under a knockout basis.
In the first semi-final, Sri Sakthi Institute of Engineering and Technology beat Kalaignar Karunanithi Institute of Technology by 12-9 to enter the finals while CIT defeated KPR Institute of Engineering and Technology by 18-3 to march into the finals.
In the finals of the tournament, CIT sailed over Sri Sakthi Institute of Engineering and Technology by 18-17 to lift the trophy. J Balaganapathy, Coimbatore Institute of Technology was selected as the Best Player of the tournament. The Best Offence of the Tournament was awarded to S Ruban Chakravarthy of Coimbatore Institute of Technology, Best Defence of the Tournament was awarded to V Dharma, Shakthi Institute of Engineering and Technology and the Promising Player of the Tournament was presented to S Dhina, Kalaignar Karunanidhi Institute of Technology.
Dr. P Perumal, Professor, Department of Civil Engineering, PSG Institute of Technology and Applied Research along with A Robinson, Director of Physical Education, Eashwar, Assistant Physical Director awarded the trophies and certificates to the winners.
